State-owned oil companies have increased the prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and commercial LPG, marking another month of rising energy costs. The latest revision reflects stronger international fuel benchmarks and currency-related factors, adding pressure on businesses that rely heavily on fuel.
ATF Prices Increased for the Fourth Consecutive Month
Aviation turbine fuel prices have been raised by ₹1.38 per litre, taking the rate to ₹138.50 per litre from ₹137.12 per litre. This marks the fourth straight monthly increase in jet fuel prices.
The latest hike follows significant increases in previous months. ATF rates rose by approximately ₹16 per litre in October, ₹6.28 per litre in September, and ₹5 per litre in August. Since fuel accounts for nearly 40% of an airline’s operating expenses, the continued rise is likely to increase financial pressure on carriers.

Commercial LPG Becomes Costlier
Commercial LPG, commonly used by hotels, restaurants, and food businesses, has also become more expensive. Oil companies have increased the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder by ₹10, taking the cost to ₹2,820.
This is the second consecutive monthly hike in commercial LPG prices. In October, rates increased by ₹62.50 per cylinder, while September saw an additional rise of ₹9.50.
Recent Trend in LPG Prices
The latest increases come after a period of sharp declines. Commercial LPG prices were reduced by ₹192 in August and ₹183.50 in July, providing temporary relief to businesses. Those cuts followed a massive surge earlier in the year when commercial LPG prices climbed from ₹1,740.50 per cylinder in February to a record ₹3,113.50 in June due to global supply disruptions and elevated energy costs.
Why Have Fuel Prices Increased?
Fuel price revisions are largely influenced by changes in international benchmark rates and fluctuations in the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Oil marketing companies review ATF and LPG prices on the first day of every month, and final rates may vary across states due to differences in local taxes and VAT structures.
No Change in Domestic LPG, Petrol and Diesel Rates
While commercial users face higher costs, household consumers have received some relief. The price of domestic LPG cylinders remains unchanged at ₹942 for a 14.2-kg cylinder.
Similarly, petrol and diesel prices have not been revised. Retail fuel rates remain steady despite earlier increases of around ₹7.50 per litre introduced in May.
What the Latest Hike Means
The continued increase in ATF and commercial LPG prices could have a direct impact on industries that depend heavily on fuel. Airlines may face higher operational expenses, while restaurants, hotels, and catering businesses could see an increase in operating costs. Although household LPG users have been spared from another price hike, commercial consumers are likely to feel the impact of rising global energy prices in the months ahead.
