Ahead of the festive season, commercial LPG cylinder prices have been increased, putting additional pressure on businesses that rely heavily on these cylinders. Oil and gas companies have raised the price of the 19 kg commercial gas cylinder, although the exact increase varies by city depending on local taxes and other factors.
The price hike applies only to commercial LPG cylinders. Domestic LPG cylinder prices have not changed, so household consumers will continue to pay the existing rates.
Festive Season Brings Cost Pressure: What Is the New Price in Delhi?
In Delhi, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has gone up by ₹62.50. Following the latest revision, the cylinder will now cost around ₹2,810.
The increase comes just before the festive season, when demand from hotels, restaurants, catering businesses and other food-related establishments generally rises. Higher LPG costs could therefore increase operating expenses for these businesses.
Commercial LPG prices have also been revised in previous months, adding to the cost pressure faced by businesses that regularly use large quantities of cooking gas.
What Will Be the Impact on Businesses?
Commercial LPG cylinders are widely used by hotels, restaurants, small eateries, caterers and other food-service businesses. A rise in cylinder prices directly increases their daily operating costs.
For small businesses operating with limited profit margins, even a moderate increase in fuel expenses can affect overall profitability. Businesses may try to manage the additional cost by reducing other expenses or adjusting the prices of food and beverages.
If operating costs continue to rise, consumers could eventually see higher prices for food and other services. The overall impact, however, will depend on how much of the additional LPG expense businesses are able to absorb.
